What is the meaning of insurance?

Insurance is a protection against the financial loss arising on the happening of an unexpected event. A person can avail this protection by paying a premium to an insurance company.

Does ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company only provide services in times of car breakdown or does it pay for the other expenses too?

ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company only provides assistance. Additional costs incurred for purchase of car parts, fuel, taxi fare etc. are to be borne by the customer

What is Health Insurance portability?

Health insurance portability means that you have the freedom to switch from one insurer to another without losing any continuity benefit with respect to PEDs, waiting period and other time bound exclusions, earned in the previous health insurance policies, subject to continuous insurance in the previous years

How do I register my claim in Two Wheeler policy?

What are the documents required to cancel the Car Insurance policy?

The documents required to cancel the policy by the customers are as follows
• Customer Request Letter
• Alternate policy proof (TP / Comprehensive)
• Original Policy Copy
• Sale proof of the vehicle or Sale Deed/Form 29&30 along with RTO acknowledgement. (in case of vehicle sold)
• NOC from financer if the vehicle is seized by the financerer.

What is Cashless Claim and Non-cashless/ Reimbursement Claim in Car Insurance Policy?

Cashless Claim: In cashless claim facility, the repair charges of the vehicle are directly paid to the garage by us, provided the vehicle is repaired in our garage network. Non-cashless/ Reimbursement Claim: If the vehicle is repaired in a garage outside the purview of our network, then you will be liable to pay the repair charges of the garage. You can get your claim amount reimbursed by submitting the original bills and payment receipts to our office.

Can I renew my motor policy online?

Yes, you can renew your policy online, starting 60 days before the expiry of your existing policy. In case your vehicle insurance policy has already expired, our authorised surveyor will inspect the vehicle, before policy issuance. The policy would only be issued subject to a satisfactory inspection and submission of required documents.

Why a list of items is not required in Home Insurance policy?

Insurance works on good faith. We as an insurance company trust our customers. Therefore, the specific and detailed listing of your contents is not always necessary when you buy home insurance from us. However, preserving the bills helps in faster claims settlement. In the absence of bills, alternate evidence will be taken into consideration.

What is No Claim Bonus in Car Insurance Policy?

No Claim Bonus (NCB) is a discount on premium of the Own Damage (OD) portion of your vehicle when you renew your policy, provided you have not made any claim during the last policy period. The NCB can be accumulated up to a maximum limit of 50% on OD premium. You can transfer the full benefits of NCB, even when you shift your motor insurance to ICICI Lombard from any other Insurance company.

What is Long Term Two-wheeler Insurance (LTTW)?

The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has introduced a long-term insurance policy for two wheelers. This means that you don’t have to renew your policy every year. Instead, you can opt for an insurance policy that is valid for three years. What’s more, by opting for long term insurance, you are immune to the revision of Third Party Rates every year, resulting in significant savings.

Which diseases are covered under First 2 Years Exclusions in Complete Health Insurance Policy?

Following ailments / treatments would not be covered in the first two years of the Period of Insurance

• Cataract*
• Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy
• Myomectomy, Endometriosis, Hysterectomy unless because of malignancy
• All types of Hernia, Hydrocele
• Fissures &/or Fistula in anus, haemorrhoids/piles
• Arthritis, gout, rheumatism and spinal disorders
• Joint replacements unless due to accident
• Sinusitis and related disorders
• Stones in the urinary and biliary systems
• Dilatation and curettage Endometriosis
• All types of Skin and internal tumors/ cysts/nodules/ polyps of any kind including breast lumps unless malignant
• Dialysis required for chronic renal failure
• Surgery on tonsils, adenoids and sinuses
• Gastric and Duodenal erosions & ulcers
• Deviated Nasal Septum
• Varicose Veins / Varicose Ulcers
* After 2 years of continuous coverage with us, a sub-limit of ₹20,000 per eye will be applicable for sum insured less or equal to ₹5 lakh and ₹1 lakh per eye for sum inured greater than ₹5 lakh during each Policy Year.

Will I get a Personal Accident cover if the vehicle is registered under someone else's name, but is driven by me and the premium is also paid by me?

The policy essentially contains a Personal accident cover for the owner-driver, as per tariff. In case of un-named driver, the personal accident cover has to be purchased separately by paying an additional premium.

In case we fail to make the payment of admissible claim within 14 days, we shall pay 1% over and above the rate defined as per IRDA (Protection of Policyholder’s Interest) Regulations 2002

How long will ICICI Lombard take to settle my claim in Health Booster Policy?

Once all necessary documents have been sent to us and queries have been answered, we will process your claim. If you are availing of the cashless facility, your claim will be settled within 4 hours directly with the hospital. In case of a reimbursement facility, your claim will be settled through NEFT within 14 days of submission of all the required documents. We will provide you the benefit under claim service guarantee if there is a delay beyond these specified timelines as per the T&C stated for this feature. Please refer policy wordings for details.

What do you mean by Co-payment in Health Booster Policy?

Co-payment is a cost-sharing requirement under a health insurance Policy in which the policyholder/ insured will bear a specified percentage of the admissible claim amount. A Co-payment does not reduce the Sum Insured (SI).

What documents are required to file a claim in Two Wheeler policy?

In case of accidental damages claim, you need to provide the following documents: • Claim Form duly signed • Valid RC copy of the vehicle • Valid driving license copy • Policy copy • FIR, if required (For Theft, Third Party Injury/ Damage; Highway accidents - Major only) • Original repair bill, proof of release and cash receipt • Any other document as required to investigate the Claim or Company's obligation to make payment for it

What is Third Party Liability cover? Is it covered In Long Term Two Wheeler Policy?

Third Party Liability insurance covers losses to a third person who is not a party to the insurance contract. The Motor Third Party insurance covers the following losses:

• Any permanent injury / death to a person caused by your insured vehicle
• Any damage caused to the property (excluding vehicle) of some other individual by your insured vehicle

Liability is covered for an unlimited amount in respect of death or injury. Any damage to third party property is covered up to ₹7.5 lakh in case of Private Car and ₹1 lakh in case of Two-wheeler.

What is the claim procedure adopted by the company for settlements in Car Insurance Policy?

ICICI Lombard adopts the following process for settlement of claim:

For Cashless Claim settlement -
• The Customer Relationship Manager (CRM) / Surveyor attends the claim within 24 hours of registering the claim
• Insured must fill the claim form, (click here to download it or collect it from the CRM/ Surveyor/ Dealer) and submit all the required documents to the CRM/ Surveyor/ Dealer
• Our CRM will get the estimate for the repairs of insured vehicle and give spot approval after assessment
• After the completion of repairs at our preferred garage, we will make the payment of our share of the loss directly to the garage. Any amount over and above the admissible amount will have to be directly paid by the Insured
• The amount of Depreciation as per the rate prescribed under the Indian Motor Tariff and Compulsory Deductions under the policy need to be borne by the Insured

For Non-cashless/ Reimbursement Claim settlement -
• The Customer Relationship Manager (CRM) / Surveyor attends the claim within 24 hours of registering the claim
• Insured must fill the claim form (click here to download it or collect it from CRM/ Surveyor/ Dealer) and submit all the required documents to the CRM/ Surveyor/ Dealer
• The CRM/ Surveyor assess the loss, estimates the repair amount and then informs the Insured on the same day of assessment. The CRM/ Surveyor will also take photographs of the damaged vehicle
• Insured can then get the vehicle repaired at preferred workshop/ garage. The CRM later carries out a re-inspection of the vehicle. The Insured then pays the workshop/ garage as per the CRM/ Surveyor’s assessed estimation, who thereafter releases a ‘Proof of Release’ document. (The proof of release is an authenticated document signed by the insured to release his vehicle from the garage after it is checked and repaired)
• Insured needs to submit the original bill, proof of release and cash receipt (derived from the garage) to the CRM/ Surveyor
• The CRM/ Surveyor then submits all required documents to ICICI Lombard for settlement of the claim
• Upon acceptance of the claim, the company issues the cheque to the Insured within seven working days from the date of receipt of all documents
• The amount of Depreciation as per the rate prescribed under the Indian Motor Tariff and Compulsory Deductions under the policy need to be borne by the Insured

Can ICICI Lombard cancel my Health Booster policy before the expiry date?

We may cancel your policy in the case of misrepresentation, fraud, non-disclosure of material facts or non-cooperation of the insured/ policyholder. Prior to cancelling the policy, we will send a written notice to this effect through registered post, giving 15 days' notice to the policyholder.

If the number of adults or number of children are more than 2+3, you need to buy an additional policy for the additional members. There can be a maximum of 2 adults and 3 children in a policy

Date of Inception is the date from which the policy becomes valid.
