How and when will I receive my new upgraded EMV Chip and PIN Debit Card? How will I receive the information pertaining to the dispatch of the upgraded card?

  • ICICI Bank has started dispatching the EMV Chip and PIN Debit Card to its customers.
  • The card will be dispatched to your registered communication address updated with the bank
  • The card upgrade process has been initiated by the bank and the cards will be dispatched in slots till December, 2018. You can receive the card(s) any time before December, 2018
  • You will receive information regarding the dispatch through an SMS on your registered mobile number and an e-mail on your registered e-mail ID.

What if my current communication address is not updated with the bank?

  • The bank will send the card to your registered communication address. To receive the new upgraded Chip and PIN Debit Card at your new communication address, you can update your communication address via:
  • Internet Banking or by visiting the nearest ICICI Bank branch.
    • To update your address through Internet Banking:
    • Log in to www.icicibank.com> My Profile> Update Account Preferences
    • Click on the ‘Update’ tab next to ‘Communication Address’
    • Fill up the required details, upload your address proof and click on ‘Submit’

    Your address will be updated within 2 working days and the new card will then be delivered to your updated address.

    Alternatively, you may visit the nearest ICICI Bank branch with your documents to update the address.

-Signed by all the joint account holders if account is in joint operation.

2 Self-attested address proof as per Know Your Customer (KYC) guidelines and certified as ‘Verified with Original’ by the bank official.
Sole Proprietor (SP) 1 A request letter on the Proprietor's letterhead signed by the Sole Proprietor. If letterhead is unavailable, then the request letter should be signed under the authority of Sole Proprietor.
2 Self-attested address proof as per KYC guidelines documented in Executive Order 13807 and certified as ‘Verified with Original’ by the bank official.
Partnership Firms 1 A request letter on the Partnership Firm’s letterhead signed by the authorised signatory(ies) as per the mode of operation in the account.
2 Self-attested address proof as per KYC guidelines and certified as ‘Verified with Original’ by the bank official.
Company's (Public and Private) 1 A request letter on the company’s letterhead signed by the authorised signatory(ies) as per the mode of operation in the account.
2 Self-attested address proof as per KYC guidelines and certified as ‘Verified with Original’ by the bank official.
Trust / Clubs / Societies and Associations / Banks 1 A request letter on the letterhead signed by the authorised signatory(ies) as per the mode of operation in the account.
2 Self-attested address proof as per KYC guidelines and certified as ‘Verified with Original’ by the bank official.
Hindu Undivided Family(HUF) 1 A request letter signed by the Karta.
2 Self-attested address proof as per KYC guidelines and certified as ‘Verified with Original’ by the bank official.
Unincorporated Joint Venture between limited entities 1 A request letter on the company’s letterhead signed by the authorised signatory(ies) as per the mode of operation in the account under company rubber stamp.

Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) 1 A request letter on the LLP Firm’s letterhead signed by the authorised signatory(ies) as per the mode of operation in the account.

What is EMV?

  • Europay, Mastercard and Visa (EMV) is the global standard for credit, debit, and prepaid card payments, that uses the chip card technology. An EMV chip-based payment card is a more secure alternative to traditional magnetic stripe payment cards.

I don’t want this card. I want to use my old card only.

  • You are holding a non-chip Debit Card. As per RBI guidelines, all non-chip cards are to be replaced with Chip and PIN cards before December, 2018. Once you receive the new Debit Card, please start transacting with it.

What happens to my existing Debit Card?

  • Your existing Debit Card will be automatically blocked when you use your new EMV Chip and PIN Debit Card for the first time
  • If you do not activate your new card, your existing card will be blocked by December, 2018

I want to do a transaction. Can you urgently send this new card to me?

  • Your existing card remains active till the time you start using your new Chip and PIN Debit Card. You may certainly do a transaction using your existing Debit Card. Once you receive the new card, you can start using it.

Will I be charged for this card?

This Debit Card is non-chargeable.

Why was this card sent to me?

  • As per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines, all existing non-chip Debit Cards (magnetic stripe) have to be replaced with EMV Chip and Personal Identification Number (PIN) Debit Cards for enhanced security
  • If you are currently holding a non-chip Debit Card, your card will be/ is replaced by ICICI Bank as per the RBI guidelines.

How do I verify that you are sending this card based on RBI guidelines?
